Travel Advisory Policy Change

State's Travel Advisory Exemption Removed

There has been a change in the state of Connecticut Travel Advisory which directs travelers to self-quarantine for a 14-day period when entering or returning to Connecticut from one of 22 identified states. While this travel advisory used to exempt essential health care workers from the quarantine requirement, it no longer does.  Therefore health care workers who travel to one of the 22 states identified in the advisory will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days when they return to CT.  Also, regarding international travel, CDC recommends a person quarantine for 14 days upon return.

As a result of this change, Fairview has modified our vacation policy.  We are no longer strongly discouraging travel to any of the states identified on Connecticut Travel Advisory.   Rather, we are prohibiting employees from traveling to these states.  Therefore we will not approve any time off related to travel plans to the states listed on the CT Travel Advisory.

Employees who choose to disregard this travel advisory will be subject to a 14-day quarantine upon return to CT and therefore unable to work.  Employees will not be permitted to use PTO for this purpose.  Employees are mandated to communicate to management prior to traveling outside the state of CT.  Failure to communicate to management regarding travel to and from the states listed on the CT travel advisory may result in progressive discipline as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Staff can find the current list on our Website (InfoHub tab at far right of screen), on the PCC Dashboard or by visiting this link:

I am sorry for this message.  However, we know COVID is still a significant problem and must remain vigilant to ensure the safety of our residents and each other.  Please be understanding of this difficult situation and let’s all stay together.  #StrongerTogether
